My Great Lengths Latest| Lorna Duffy

I hope you are all having a fabulous Easter weekend!

As I’m sure you know a good few of you know, I got my very first set of Great Lengths hair extensions on Tuesday. Since then, i’ve been getting messages and comments from a good few of you asking me various questions about them so I figured it would be easier to include everything here.

For those of you that know anything about hair extensions in general, you will know that there are many extensions out there on the market. The only kind of extensions i’ve ever used have been the clip-in ones. Initially, I bought them to wear the odd time but soon enough I found myself wearing them every day. I found the quality deteriorated after a short enough period of time and they just became a pain maintenance wise. Hence, I could not wait to finally test out proper hair extensions.

About Great Lengths

Great lengths extensions use keratin bonds to apply the hair and it is applied to the hair using both hot and cold heat. The hot heat only touches the bond, while the cold heat touches your hair. Therefore, there is no heat at all being applied to your hair and therefore no damage.

The bonds themselves are tiny. Even with my hair tied up I can’t see them which is a huge bonus as that is something I was worried about. They are comfortable and don’t feel heavy and I find that even though my hair is naturally very dark, they blend in really well to give the perfect balayage look. My hair is quick thick too so I love that they are a perfect match and give an even fuller look.

In terms of the length, I went for 45cm extensions. My hair used to be quite long and i’ve missed the length since I stopped using clip-ins last September so I could not wait to get lengthy extensions yet again. There are a number of lengths to choose from and you can also cut and style the extensions once they are in.

I’ve heard great things about Great Lengths to date. In particular, that they last longer than most other hair extensions and don’t damage the hair. I will keep you posted over the next few months anyway. I would love them to last until September so fingers crossed. When applied properly and taken care of Great Lengths should last 6 months. They may be more expensive than most hair extensions, but the majority of hair extensions supposedly only last 3 months and end up costing the same amount when they need to be reapplied.

In terms of maintenance, I am using the Great Lengths hair brush which is specifically for the extensions and maintaining them. The brush helps you brush through the bonds. If you don’t brush them 2-3 times a day you could risk them getting matted. I love any excuse to mess with my hair so brushing regularly is no bother to me! 😛

The price of these extensions depend on the person in terms of the length and volume that they need. If you are considering getting extensions I would recommend going to a Great Lengths salon for a consultation and they will tell you how much it will work out to be.

I would like to say a huge thank you again to Antonela in Wilde Salon for creating my masterpiece. I couldn’t be happy with the end result. From the length and volume to the combination of three colours that created the perfect balayage – I am loving everything about the extensions so far.
