Hey guys, how is everyone today? I am officially back to reality this week. I am back to the gym, my Masters and blogging.  I’ve had four amazing weeks off from college and I had the best time in Prague last week. I’m sure a lot of you will have seen some of the photos I took during my trip last week. Prague definitely has to be one of the most beautiful cities i’ve been to in Europe. I never thought i’d see the day where I took photos of buildings and bridges but I couldn’t help myself. Everything was just so scenic.

I’ve noticed a lot of people are planning trips to Prague lately and over the past week i’ve been getting questions about where I stayed, things to do and see there etc so i’ve put together my latest travel blog post to fill you all in on my Czech antics.

DAY ONE

Firstly, I flew over with my friend Leonora. Neither of us had been before so we were both super excited. Our flight from Dublin was at 1pm and we arrived in Prague at about 5pm local time. As soon as we arrived at our hotel (Diplomat Hotel) we checked in, changed and headed straight into the city for dinner. Before I went to Prague I did my research and for those of you that know me too well, you’ll know how much I love my food. Every single person I spoke to who had been to Prague told me to go to the Grosetto Marina restaurant . This was a restaurant on a boat which overlooked Prague castle. I’ve always been a sucker for a good view so as soon as we arrived I fell in love with the place. Bill Clinton had once dined there so if it’s good enough for Bill….! Our table was at a window looking straight out onto the water (where there were at least 100 swans), and because it was dark at this stage everything was lit up so the view was beautiful. The food was reasonably priced and delish. I would definitely recommend going here. By far one of my favourite restaurants in Prague.

DAY TWO

On our second day i’m proud to say we walked over 17,000 steps. We went to see Prague Castle. The different sections of the castle were huge so you could easily spend a few hours wandering about and the castle itself was quite high up. We went to a few different places, took loads of selfies (of course) and photos of the various buildings and streets. On our way back down to the city we stopped off in a little restaurant that had a balcony which overlooked the entire city. There were heaters and blankets to keep us warm because it was freezing. I ordered the most amazing hot chocolate and we stayed there for a good while to take everything in. So scenic!

After this we headed over to the Old Town Square (my favourite part of the city) where we saw the Church of Our Lady Before, the famous Astronomical Clock and the well-known Old Town Hall Tower. There’s a lot to do in the square and there are plenty of cafes for you to rest up in after all your walking. I had my first ever cappuccino in a cute little cafe just off the square that day #Milestone. I would recommend a walking tour or a Segway tour around The Old Town.

I would definitely recommend checking out Charles Bridge and spending a few hours just wandering through the city.  After some shopping on the main shopping street we popped into the Cerna Ruze shopping centre for a quick browse. As tempted as I was to buy clothes, I didn’t due to lack of case space. What can you do? #GirlPower

After this we found a small Italian restaurant just off the Old Town Square. It was cosy and thankfully the food warmed us up. Then there was the most important meal of the day – dessert of course! We strolled down to a local pastry shop and bought a traditional Slovak pastry called Trdelnik. I got this with nutella and it was UNREAL.

DAY THREE

Day three involved a lot of walking. We managed to walk at least another 17,000 steps so we walked off the Trdelnik from the night before. #winning. We went to the famous ‘Lock Bridge’ which was on the same side of the city as Prague castle. The bridge reminded me of the one in Paris but it was a lot smaller and in a hidden location. It took us a while to find the bridge but it was well worth it.

The Lock Bridge

Just across from the bridge was the well-known John Lennon wall. This stuck out by a mile. By far the coolest wall i’ve ever seen. The art was so cool. We also came across a few unusual ‘bare’ statues which have yet to be explained. Modern art?

After that, we headed back to the Old Town Square. We decided to walk to the top of the Old Town Hall Tower. As tired as we were by the time we got to the top it was totally worth it. The views were incredible.

After climbing the tower we decided to go to the Butchers Grill, a steak restaurant that was highly recommended by friends. All I will say is, if you love steak you will LOVE this place. The food was unbelievable, it was reasonably priced and the service was excellent.

After this we walked back to Charles Bridge which was about a 25 minute walk. We decided to go to the Ice Bar and we wanted to check out Karlovy Lazne, the biggest nightclub in Europe. It has five floors. Madness!

Day Four

We decided to check out the New town which was quite modern and full of business-type buildings and shops etc. I prefer the older part of the city because it’s a lot more scenic and there is a lot more to do and see there.

However, I did fall in love with one building in particular. The Dancing House building has to be one of the strangest buildings i’ve ever come across. Definitely worth seeing if you’re planning a trip to Prague.

After spending an hour or two in New Town we headed back to our favourite restaurant/cafe up near the castle. This was a bit of a walk back up to the castle grounds but the views and food made it worthwhile.

After this we decided to pamper ourselves in the Diplomat Hotel Spa. There were a number of treatments and facilities available from Saunas and Jacuzzi’s to massages.

That night we had dinner in our hotel and drinks at the hotel bar. After all of our walking we decided to stay in the hotel for the evening to relax and unwind with a bottle of wine. #WellDeserved

Day Five

Our last day in Prague arrived in no time. We got up early so we could explore the city one more time. I’m proud to say I had yet another Cappuccino and we tried out another traditional dish. This one was called Goulash. It’s a stew type of dish with beef, potatoes and carrots etc and it’s served in a large bread bowl. It was so tasty!! I would definitely recommend trying this.

We then spent the rest of the day sightseeing and souvenir shopping. I am a souvenir addict so I couldn’t leave without at least buying a magnet and a postcard.

FASHION BOSS TRAVEL TIPS

Dress up warm if you’re going during Winter.

Bring good walking shoes.

Three or four nights is a good length of time to visit Prague.

Bring a selfie stick – everywhere! 😛

Buy a Metro ticket. They are super cheap and can be used on buses, trams and the Metro.(AAA)

You’ll find bargains everywhere so keep an eye out.

Plan in advance – have a rough idea of what you’d like to do/see so once you arrive you won’t waste time finding things to do.

Transport from the airport – we stayed just 10 minutes outside the main city center so it didn’t take long to get to and from the airport. To save time we got a taxi from the airport. It took roughly 20-25 minutes to get to and from my hotel and it cost us just under €20. Taking public transport would have taken longer and I didn’t fancy dragging my case on and off the Metro. I would definitely recommend grabbing a taxi to save time. You’ll have more time to explore the city then.

Well there you have it. What I got up to in Prague and some #Boss travel tips just incase you’re planning a trip over anytime soon. Let me know what you think of the blog post and thanks for reading.

Until next time…
