Staycation – The Address at Dublin 1

Hi guys – I hope you all had a great weekend. I was under the weather yesterday so I said I would put together this post for anyone thinking about going on a little staycation here in Dublin.

I escaped to The Address at Dublin 1 on Thursday and I had the nicest time. I’ve been working non-stop lately so a sneaky escape was just what the doctor ordered. If you love interior design and all things tech then this place is definitely worth a visit.

The hotel is located in the heart of Dublin City Centre and is just across the road from Connolly station and the Luas line. It is also only about a five-minute walk from O’Connell Street and Henry Street (for any shopaholics reading this) – so handy!

My sister and I checked in at about 3.30pm because we wanted to make the most of our day off. A bubble bath, a fluffy robe, and a good book were definitely on the cards. Once we were shown around our Club Room we headed straight for the Club Lounge on the seventh floor. Why? For the views of course. We made it just in time for a beautiful sunset (see below).

THE CLUB LOUNGE

Guests can access the Club Lounge by a private elevator. Again, I loved the decor and the city views were just incredible. The rooftop lounge has everything from a coffee machine and fully stocked fridge to fresh pastries in the morning.

Outfit details – Hat and jumper dress are from Penneys / Boots are from Shoe Rack and my bag is from Furla.

THE CLUB ROOM

Our club room had a king size bed, individually controlled air conditioning, an ensuite bathroom with a rainforest shower, a seriously fluffy bathrobe and of course, slippers. There was also a flat screen TV, a coffee machine, bottled water, and complimentary Wi-Fi. I honestly had the nicest sleep that night. The duvet and blanket were seriously soft and cosy so needless to say I was out for the count within minutes.

I was also really impressed with the smart technology in the room. To my knowledge, The Address is the only hotel in Dublin with smart technology in their rooms. There was a one-touch device that controlled lighting, climate, and entertainment. There was also in-room touch panels installed where you have control of lighting, temperature, and also the opening and closing of the curtains (very cool). Finally, “do not disturb” and “make up my room” functions were on the touch panels at your bedside,  your TV, and even your own Tablet. I LOVE tech and gadgets so this was definitely a highlight for me.

EAT! DRINK!

We popped down to “The Place” for a few pre-dinner drinks before dinner and of course, I ordered wine. I really liked the bar decor and it had a nice vibe to it as well. It would definitely be a good spot for after work drinks on a Friday.

Dinner was served in McGettigans Cookhouse which is next door to The Place. I am already a huge fan of the McGettigans bars and the food here did not disappoint. I ordered crispy chicken wings to start, the nicest beef dish for my main course and the most amazing warm chocolate brownie for dessert. Click here to view their full menu. They also had a great selection of cockails which I intend of trying out very soon.

There you have it – my latest staycation review. I would definitely recommend The Address at Dublin 1 for a mini getaway, a trip to Dublin or an overnight stay to pamper yourself and unwind. Such a nice spot hidden in the heart of Dublin City Centre. I tried to include as much as possible but if you have any other questions feel free to comment below. Where to next? I am going on a ski trip in two weeks time (CANNOT WAIT) so keep an eye out for more travel antics.
