Hi guys, it’s FINALLY Friday! I have had a busy but productive week so far with work and I have been shooting some new summer inspired looks too. I am also still working through my Portugal style posts so if you’re on the look out for some inspiration then keep an eye out. This outfit is from iClothing and Pretty Little Thing – I have included links below so have a read and let me know what you think.
10 REASONS TO LOVE MAXI DRESSES
I love maxi dresses! We have seen them everywhere for the past few years, and for good reason. They are perfect for the warmer months for a number for so many reasons. I saw this iClothing one a couple of weeks ago and I had to have it. I’ve rounded up 10 of my favorite things about them so have a read below and let me know if I have left anything out.
1. THEY’RE FLATTERING.
If you prefer to cover up then maxi’s are the way to go this summer. A maxi dress that gently flares from the waist can highlight your curves while downplaying any trouble spots. Both a scoop and v-neck is flattering as they draw the eye vertically rather than horizontally.
2. THEY’RE COMFY.
If you’re on holidays and you’re planning on walking around all day in 35 degree heat you will want something comfy to wear. Maxi’s are easy to slip on and the material in this particular one is super light so you won’t be dying in the heat. Simple to pop on over your head and then you can just add some cute flats, and you’ll be ready to go!
3. YOU DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT MATCHING.
Does putting together outfits stress you out? Fear not! Most maxi dresses look great with basic black or brown accessories, so you can toss it on without worrying about clashing. This particular one has pop of yellow and orange so I decided to team it with rose gold heels. Wedges and flats would also look great.
4. FORGET SHAVING YOUR LEGS.
The absolute effort when you’re on holidays. If you’re having a lazy day then maxi dresses will save you having to waste precious minutes shaving. Simply throw it on and no one has to know.
5. THEY’RE FEMININE.
Maxi dresses are fun and flirty. Unlike shift dresses, maxi dresses don’t hide your figure – they embrace it. You can be comfortable and still feel feminine. And you can easily add jewellery and/or a hat to finish off the look. Oversized sunglasses are a must too.
6. THEY’RE VERSATILE.
Unlike jeans, you can wear a maxi dress to a wedding, a dinner date, and to the beach. There’s so much you can do with them. Whether it’s a casual weekend look or a Friday night dinner date. Adding a cropped blazer can take you from the beach to the movies. Or change up your look by swapping flip-flops for gladiator sandals, strap wedges or barely there heels.
7. SUN PROTECTION.
Throw on a maxi dress over your bikini, and you’re ready to go. They are great for covering up to avoid getting burnt. Definitely a better option than a tank top and shorts if you’re planning on being out in the sun for more than a couple of hours.
8. MINIMAL EFFORT REQUIRED.
Who has time for dry-cleaning? You can throw most maxi dresses in the washing machine plus many don’t wrinkle easily which is another bonus if you’re packing a few for a trip away. There is nothing worse then arriving at your hotel and having a case full of wrinkled clothes.
9. NO WARDROBE MALFUNCTIONS.
A maxi dress means you don’t have to worry about your shirt coming untucked, or anything riding up when you sit down. It’s literally got you covered. A maxi dress is perfect for ensuring that more conservative events (like are wedding) are worry-free.
10. THEY’RE CLASSIC.
As much as we love a good trend, maxi dresses appeared with a bang back to the ’70s, and they aren’t going out of style anytime soon. They have major staying power due to the wide variety of patterns, styles, colors, and fabrics available.
