A Little Spring Style…
Now that we are moving out of the darker winter months, we can finally start focusing on our Spring Summer 2016 wardrobes. It is finally times girls! After having a browse through the new collection from Littlewoods Ireland at their press day recently I fell in love with a lot as usual. Here are a few of my favourites…
70s Chic
Channelling boho sweethearts like Stevie Nicks, this seventies update takes the theme to a new sophisticated level. Fringing is still key, this time worn with delicate white dresses and luxe fabrics like leather and suede. The denim culotte is a key piece here, worn with folksy prints and platform heels and the maxi dress is back, this time with cold shoulder detail and crochet.
Dark Blooms
Florals take an unexpected new direction for spring with a background palette of moody blacks and midnight blues, lace panels give a twist to a floral Bardot dress, the classic suit gets a cool injection with a subdued floral print and sheer fabrics show a hint of skin before the summer months begin. Feminine pieces are given a rock chick edge worn with biker jackets and lace is updated for SS16 with two-tone detail.
Acid Pastels
The future’s looking bright with a shock of vibrant hues. Crochet, coloured lace and embroidery are the focal point with a big bold colour palette including acid yellow worn with white pieces or soft denim. This trend also sees the return of the pussy-bow blouse, this time worn for evening wear and tucked into a PU skirt. The key trouser shape for the look is the wide-leg worn with pretty floaty tops.
White Isle
This ethereal look has white and pale grey at its heart, beautiful fabrics create contrast including broderie anglaise, fringing and tassel trims. Simple lace blouses, crochet inserts and trumpet sleeves are key details here.
Chinoiserie
Take a trip to the orient with this romantic trend, prints are inspired by exotic birds and blossom, dresses get obi tying detailing, while dresses and tops are given an eastern inspired makeover with fan sleeves. Prints are key here, with the focus on mixing and contrasting.
Retronic
Fashion takes a step back in time once more, as the obsession with all things retro continues. Look out for ribbed knits, contrast waistcoats and high waisted flares plus upsized patch pockets. This is a more casual take on 70s dressing.
Swimwear
Swimwear takes a bold new direction for SS16, cut out details create sleek silhouettes, while embellishments like embroidery, beading and fringing create a perfect beach-to-bar feel.
