It’s that time of year again so naturally I am panicking at the thought of summer ending. Kids are going back to school, the days are getting shorter and the shops have been taken over by everything woolen, warm and faux fur related. Autumn/Winter is officially on the way! As much as I LOVE summer there are some aspects of winter that I do look forward to every year.
Here is my list. What’s on yours? <3
Hibernating
There’s nothing better then curling up on the couch with a giant mug of tea or a bowl of soup in the evenings. I love closing all the curtains, wrapping myself in blankets, spooning my fluffball of a dog and hiding away from cold and chilly nights.
Lighting Fires
I don’t mean starting a bonfire in the backyard, I mean buying at least one hundred logs of wood, storing them in your shed and lighting big open fires in the evenings. Toasty warm evenings in the sitting room are always something to look forward to after a long day in college or at work.
Wearing Snuggly Socks
I love making a trip into Penneys or Dunnes Stores and buying loads of snuggly socks. They may be tricky to walk in but their fluffiness makes up for it. Don’t you think?
Hats
Whether you come from a royal background or not, faux fur hats are always a must in my eyes. I own at least 3 fluffy hats and people either love them or hate them. They do the trick and they look fab if I do say so myself! #Love
Book a skiing trip
I haven’t been skiing in a few years but it is one sport I have always loved. Before, during or after Christmas is an ideal time to book a mini ski trip away. Whether it’s a Bridget Jones ‘romantic’ ski trip or a crazy one with your friends. They are always great craic.
Eat to your hearts content
You’re in luck girls! You don’t have to hear the phrase bikini body for at least another 4-6 months, and you don’t have to fret about yours! Mince pies, roast dinners are on the menu for the next few months. If you’re a foody like me then this will definitely be one of the main highlights of winter.
Update your winter wardrobe
Winter is the perfect excuse to shop for a new wardrobe. Up until now you may have thought this girl hates winter….whats to hate? It is the best season in terms of clothes. I love to layer, and this is the perfect season to do it! Winter coats, hats and gloves, boots boots and more boots!
Hot chocolate….yes please!
Winter brings the best drinks: Chai Lattes, mulled wine and hot chocolate….need I say more? Extra marshmallows please! <3
One of the things I don’t like…
Your commute will be that much longer: So leave extra early because there will be more people squashing themselves onto the Luas each morning, packed buses, icey roads and traffic jams.
Well, there you have it! What to look forward to this winter.
What’s on your list? 🙂
Thanks for reading! <3
Until next time…
